How Do I Pray For Paris?
I sat and talked to God this morning and asked him, how I am to pray for Paris? What could I possibly offer? Yes, I can pray for peace and comfort for all those affected, but there seemed to be something deeper, something beyond me that my heart groaned for. I was reminded of several verses in the bible that answered the questions. It brings me comfort that all over the World there are Christians who have no idea how to pray for those affected by yesterday’s attacks on Paris. But let us be reminded that we have a Helper dwelling in us. Through our sighs, groans, loud cries, tears, and other heart and spirit expressions He intercedes for us before God in complete harmony with God’s will. There are millions of Christians with the same sighs and groans for Paris that I have, and in this, the Holy Spirit is praying. We then are told that, “All things will work toward good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose.” Because of this promise we Christians can boldly proclaim in the face of tragedy, “If God be for us who can be against us?” This entire passage of Scripture begins with this verse, “What we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory He will reveal to us later.” As we continue to pray let us wait with patience for the good of God that will come from this suffering. The Light of the Gospel will win the day.
